Faith and buildings it can create
Everyone has some type of Faith…
Faith is a belief, a trust, something that gives people hope and helps them through their daily lives. Everyone has some type of faith…be it faith in themselves, faith in others, faith in an item, faith in medicine/doctors, or most common faith in religion, among many other types of faith.
Along with people’s faith in religion comes the beautiful architecture they build as places of worship, such as churches. Now remembering its winter and that a wonderful (yes, that is sarcastic) winter storm has passed through…these are pictures (new & old) that I have already taken of churches. There are many other beautiful churches (and other places of worship and other buildings created by the hopes, dreams, and faith of people) that I have yet to photograph. Enjoy!
**And as you can see some of these photographs were posted on my photography blog Pictures through Rose Colored Glasses. I hope you enjoyed a brief look at a small number of churches that can be found around the Pennsylvania coal region. Have a super day (for those who were in the winter storm path…keep warm) and keep the faith (what yours may be)…who knows what you may build today!
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
I know…
I know my everyday postings have already been disrupted but that is life. Thursday I spent the morning at the hospital my youngest was getting an MRI. I chatted with a man who was in line behind me to register (in/out surgery). He was there by himself that morning to have a brain aneurism removed. He chatted with me about my youngest and asked why she was there before he told me why he was there. And after I kept talking with him until they took him back.
Then while in the waiting room waiting for my youngest to come out of the MRI I chatted with another mother whose son was also in having an MRI done. She has four boys (one set of twins) that were either autistic or had adhd and have had medical issues since birth. We chatted until my youngest came out and I followed her to recovery. I hope both of my waiting room chat buddies are fine and that everything went well.
I find it amazing that in certain circumstances people will open up and chat and be there for one another yet many of us (I’m guilty too) don’t even know all our neighbors. Maybe that will be something to work on this year. Meeting new people.
On another subject I am working on a post for around the spring time on the mining communities. I’m not sure where it will take me but the research has begun.
There are no picture for this post today. But give a smile to a stranger and brighten up their day!

Intro
Welcome to Anthropological Gardens.
Here you are going to find pictures and maybe a story or two to go with those pictures of people and places people go or had been, and things that are part of our social world.
A brief break down of why I named this blog what I did.
Anthropology: The study of humanity. The study of origins and social relationships of human beings. The scientific study of the origin and behavior, physical, social, and cultural development of humans.
Garden: A planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation, and enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature.
This blog is my planned space to show the photos of people, our places, our things, our societies, our humanity. This is my attempt to take photos every day. To post at least every other day. To branch out from just taking pictures of my family and friends (though my son and daughters are camera hams). To do a study of people and our lives and our different cultures and of things that seem forgotten. And hey, if this blog catches on hopefully have guest photographers and writers (my fingers are crossed on that one!)
So welcome, web surfer. Welcome to the start of my journey. I hope you’ll return to see where the winding path will take me.
